Re: Kurt W. Rothschild lecture 2001 
Dear Professor Malinvaud, 
It was with great pleasure that I read your letter indicating your willingness to deliver the next 
Kurt W. Rothschild lecture. Your acceptance has been met with great enthusiasm among the 
economics faculty! 
As for the date, November 2001 is perfectly acceptable. We have established somewhat of a 
“Thursday-tradition”, so could you possibly agree to Thursday, Nov. 22? Of course, any other 
day of this or the following week could also be arranged. 
Concerning the format, the lecture usually starts around 18 o’clock, which means you could 
either arrive on the day of the lecture or the day before. In any case you should plan on not 
leaving before the following day, since there will be a reception, including a buffet, following 
your lecture. In case you arrive early enough, the economics faculty would be pleased to meet 
you for lunch on the day of the lecture. 
Your suggestion to speak on the methodology of economics would not only be very 
appropriate with respect to Professor Rothschild’s contributions but will most certainly be 
welcomed by the faculty and should also meet with the interest of the general audience. But 
please feel free to decide on the topic of your presentation at your own discretion. 
[ shall take care that an updated list of Kurt Rothschild’s publications will reach you within a 
short time.
