Dear Krishna, 
Thank you very much for letter confirming the invitation 
to the Sraffa conference next year. It was a great relief 
for me to hear that I shall still have time until next march 
to finish my paper fun this conference, because it does need 
a lot of thinking over. 
Thank you also for the photocopy of your paper with the 
attached correspondence. The Newman paper to which I 
ref£red subsequently is rather out of date nowadays, but 
of course he did write it very early which may excuse its 
inqdeqaacies. 
I may mention that one of my collegues, Professor Stefan 
Schleicher ( he was in Trieste in 1983 at the summer school 
as an invited lecturer and an exceedingly avid listener ) 
from the University of Graz would very much like to attend 
the Sraffa conference. He merely wants to listen not to 
contribute anything. Since he is very seriously interested 
and in fact is a rather brilliant man, I hope he will be 
given opportunity to attend.
