Thank you very much for your letter of 17 December 1988. This 
is an unfortunate coincidence. The manuscript of the Sraffa 
Conference was sent to Unwin Hyman Limited for publication in 
November. The manuscript came back to us, subedited, late in 
November. After answering many queries by the subeditor, we 
returned the manuscript for printing to Unwin Hyman on Decem 
ber 14, 1988. I expect that the correcting of proofs will 
start in February, 1989. 
Your paper is, of course, included in the proceedings of the 
Sraffa Conference. From the exchanges of letters we have had, 
I regarded you as committed to this publication. I am, with 
you, of the opinion that your contract with MacMillan does 
not exclude a publication of the paper in Conference proceed 
ings. But the corresponding problem should be solved quickly, 
so as not to cause a further delay of the publication of 
either book.
