Postscript. Since I have been writing the above
pages ? three years ago the scene has changed
once again, and I should perhaps write another
introduction to explain why as a comment on this new stage.

The cheerful era of extroverted era growth has apparently come
to an end. The reasons are 1) the reduction of tensions
between the superpowers  2) the increase in tension
within the capitalist countries, largely owing to
brought about by rapid growth and high employment
3) the emergence of environment, raw materials and energy,
problems, which again owing to rapid growth.
