thought on the lines of a "Katastrophenpolitik” i.e. 
he had never the slightest hesitation to work with full 
force on the problem of improving conditions here and now 
by full employment, as long as the reform improved and 
strengthened the position of the workers, which he was 
convinced was the case for full employment. 
The historical perspective of Marx, in contrast to his 
pure economics, was and is very important for me. 
It is a rational explanation of history. 
The idea to explain the"crisis of capitalism"came from 
Kalecki who suggested it to me just before he left England.
