A New Global Initiative
Political and economic changes during the past decade have placed profound new demands
on business and government leaders worldwide. The increasingly complex international
environment demands that successful managers understand not only how business works
but also how it works on a global scale.
To prepare tomorrow’s business leaders to face the challenges ahead, one of the finest inter
national business schools in the United States has joined with Austria’s most prestigious busi-
ness school to offer a 14—month, all-English language program of instruction leading to a Ma
ster of Business Administration degree.
The University of South Carolina, known worldwide for its innovative approach to international
business education, and the Wirtschaftsuniversität Wien (WU Wien, Vienna Economics and
Business University), founded in 1898 as one of Europe’s first schools of business offer an
intensive international business program designed to prepare individuals to meet the
challenge of managing business enterprises in a global environment.
At WU Wien, students take a fully internationalized, seven-month business core Curriculum
taught by the outstanding faculty of both institutions. In the second phase of the program,
which is completed at the University of South Carolina, students choose elective courses in in
ternational business and other functional fields to further develop their managerial skills. Stu
dents also take a capstone course in the Strategie management of the globally oriented firm.
The field Consulting project sends students to consuit with top managers anywhere in the world
on issues concerning their firms.
The International MBA builds on the best of European and American management education.
