- Description:
- In a paper published in this Journal Professor Hahn (1982) is considering the proposition that neoclassical economics is logically defective. As is well known, logical flaws in neoclassical economics have been exposed by Robinson (1953) and Sraffa (1960) - albeit on partly different grounds - in their critique of the aggregate marginal productivity theory of income distribution. In the aftermath of so-called Cambridge controversy on central issues in the neoclassical theory of capital and distribution followers and interpreters of Sraffa have extended their critical comments also to the modern "core" of neoclassical economics, the Walras-Arrow-Debreu theory of General Equilibrium (GE) in a market economy with private ownership.
